Description

Landing Party Log, Stardate 2017-07.07, Survey Officer Valenka recording.

It has now been 77 days since we arrived on Gamma 7B-III and 75 days since Intrepid left orbit in response to a distress signal from the Gamma 7A system.

I can only assume Intrepid would have returned to recover us long ago if she were able to do so. It seems logical to believe that whatever fate befell our shipmates is in some way linked to the madness that overcame Midshipman T’voss some 103 hours after Intrepid warped out of orbit. Her telepathic sensitivity was the highest in the landing party and she may have suffered the psychic echo of some tragedy.

Despite an optimal rationing regimen, our supplies have been exhausted. All efforts to find edible plant – or even animal – life have failed. Further, the local water is contaminated with some manner of virus rendering it unsuitable for consumption.

Landing Party Log, Supplemental

I found the body of our security officer, Ensign Pvorg, late in the morning. I am now the last surviving member of the expedition. How strange that two such disparate beings as Pvorg and I should have become friends. I will honor his memory by doing what I can to observe the Telarite funerial customs. I know that my own demise is only a matter of days away.

I believe this will be my last recording.

Thanks to the brilliant Laticis for his "gorn-like rock", the ever adorable Ptrope for his Dome Sweet Dome, Raul and Mattymanx for the shuttlecraft, and anyone else for anything else I'm forgetting!

You would think that a ship not reporting for so long, even their memory marker bouy, signal would have reached their command base by then, a ship would be sent to look for them. There were certainly enough ships back then. Still it's a very good image full of pathos, and the log entry reflecting the finest traditions of Starfleet officers and crew. I am guessing that the officer recording is a Vulcan. Just one point I would like to clear up. Is the shuttle not functional?. Well done and best of luck in your future endeavors. Cheers.

PS: You know that this would make a good short story or part of a longer novel, or even a compilation of tragic ending stories. Keep emailing coming.
